Inspriation
This collection of photographs includes new and heritage architecture from road trips through Niagara-on-the-Lake, Kingston, Brockville, Toronto, Lunenburg, Bar Harbor, Lake Placid, Williamsburg, Charelston, Savannah, Amelia Island, and New Orleans. Our new designs often borrow from the past in scale, proportion and detailing.
Dormer Windows
Dormers improve roof and ceiling lines, and we use them extensively for loft spaces over garages or simply to add interest to expansive surfaces. In traditional 1.5 storey designs, they serve their original intent; light, ventilation, and interesting interior space.

Chimneys
Whether fuelled by gas or wood, the firepalce is a key element in home design because its proper size and placement are critical to planning a functional multi-use space. Lost in the modern development of direct vent gas and zero-clearance chimneys is the use of exterior masonry chimneys as a design feature. We can borrow from traditional home designs and incorporate reclaimed items like brick and metal brackets to make your home truly unique.

Brick & Stone
Stone and brick veneers are very popular today in the Barrie area. This cladding can work well alone or in combination with other materials like wood or vinyl siding, when thoughtfully considered. Inspiring details include masonry work from the archways, window detials, chimneys, and other accents of local heritage architecture.

Wood Siding
Wood siding and shingle materials have long been a staple of North American home builders and designers. In the last half century, however, consumers have avoided these materials in fear of traditionally high maintenance properties. Environmentally unfriendly imitation products have become mainstream in the marketplace, but for those who admire the richness, colour and detailing that wood siding and shingles add to a home, there are now a variety of durable, eco-friendly products.

Stucco
Stucco is another popular exterior material that pairs well with additional surfaces like stone. It's smooth surface can accentuate a home's clean lines and focal features like windows or dormers.

Porches
A deep covered porch across the front of the house in an Edwardian style can be an excellent way to expand the living area to the outdoors. Porches often form an integral part of a functional home, offering a meeing place for family and friends and direct connection to the neighbourhood.
